I did not take pictures while finishing this guitar. It was a difficult task and I did not have a spare hand or attention to take pictures. I will post some pictures of the materials used for the finish- shellac and pads..


Once the finish is applied, the bridge can be glued on. First the location of the bridge on the soundboard is carefully measured and laid out with masking tape. Just like the frets, it is important to be accurate with this location, since it will determine the scale length and needs to be precisely what the frets were designed for. The finish is scraped off within the boundary of the taped border.


To glue the bridge onto the soundboard, clamps are fed thru the soundhole to support the underside of the soundboard where the bridge is. In addition, there is a caul which is shaped to fit under this part of the soundboard to spread the pressure of the clamps. This is a difficult step, and I practiced doing it a few times without glue.


And now for the finished instrument...
